Sadhus of India

There are 4-5 million Sadhus in the world today.
Sadhu is translated as good man or holy man and they are what is known as 'wandering monks'.
They are dedicated to finding the fourth stage of Hindu life (asrama) through meditation, chanting and preying.

I was drawn to these men because of their natural dread locks. Their hair forms into dreadlocks from neglect and their natural lifestyle. I was so fascinated not only by their famous dreadlocks but also by their way of life and the way they are so akin with nature. This has spurred me on more to include something similar to dreads in my hair designs to come. However, when incorporating dreads, I will be looking to ensure that they are somewhat more intricate and deliberately styled than that of the Sadhus.
