Editorial:
I am SUPER CHUFFED with my editorial shoot! The skin looks amazing and just as I planned, the scarification stands out from the skin and adds another dimension to the shot. I am really pleased with the choice of gold accessories as I feel this looks fantastic against the red! YAY!
Catwalk:
A huge thank you again to Adam for being my model for this shoot. I ended up using gold leaf on the chest too as I felt it made the shot stand out more. I am extremely pleased with the outcome of this shoot! I love the incorporation of the wet and dry mud with the gold and the eyes really pop out!

Timed Assessment
Our Timed Assessment involved us being given an 'Assessment Buddy'. We had to swap looks with our partner and had to recreate each others looks under the designer's guidance. I was partnered with Emma May which I was extremely pleased with as she is one of my good friends on the course! We met up just after Christmas and discussed our looks, sapping face charts and asking each other any questions we had about the looks we were having to recreate.
I was asked to recreate an extremely interesting look from Emma. I knew I was capable of performing but on the day I was extremely nervous as I didn't want to mess up her beautiful design! Thankfully I was extremely pleased with most aspects of the shoot and it went extremely well overall. We both completed the looks with time to spare and this was down to our close communication and troubleshooting beforehand. I am extremely pleased that I had Emma as my 'buddy'.
Final Catwalk Face Chart, Hair and Styling.
Face Chart:
I have decided on this face chart because of the eyes. It really stands out against the bronzed skin, which will be applied using an Illamasqua bronzing palette. I will then use gold Supra Colour down the bridge of the nose and onto the lips. The chest and neck will be covered in Fullers' Earth and I am yet to decide whether or not to enhance the chest using gold leaf. I think that is a decision I shall have to make on the day when I see the whole look come together.

Styling:
As Adam has a rather lovely physique, I thought what better than to show it off! I have decided to have him stood topless for the shoot. He has happily agreed and this will allow me to apply fullers' earth and possibly gold leaf down his chest. Perfect!

MODELS!
I forgot to include head shots of my two beautiful models who have agreed to let me paint all over their faces! (thank you guys!)
Gold Gold Gold
I was already aware that Indian culture used an abundance of gold and I remembered the research I had previously done. Whilst researching Indian religions, I came across the Buddhist religion. Buddhism is the largest growing religion in the world. The statue is a symbol of the religion and duplicates are often made all over the world although the original is currently in the temple of Wat Traimit, Bangkok.
I have always been drawn to the richness and luxurious nature of these statues and their symbol of peace and understanding across the world.
After deciding to use fullers' earth in my Catwalk design, I looked at ways to make the shot come alive and stand out. I instantly thought of gold. I had this idea in my head that applying gold to parts of the face using Supra Colour and also maybe using gold leaf in places could look pretty cool.
I therefore took influence from this and decided that incorporating gold into my designs could be really interesting!

Suri Tribe
I also came across the Suri Tribe from Ethiopia. Better known as the Suma Tribe, they are avid cattle farmers. The amount of cattle one family owns relates to the wealth of the family. For instance, a man must have at least 60 cattle to give to the father of his bride to be before he is allowed to marry her.
As the Ethiopian landscape can become sparse throughout the year, during the dry season the tribe use their cattle to bleed so that their families can drink the blood of the cow.
The appearance of the Suri Tribe is what drew me to them. The women wear lip plates from a young age and participate in scarification as a form of body decoration.
The men often cover themselves in a solution of earth and water up to the neck. This is used as body care to moisturize the skin and create a sturdy skin surface. Men too participate in scarification but for a different reason. The men will create large scars on their bodies to symbolize the killing of an enemy tribesman.
Again, I was drawn to this tribe for the use of mud over the face and body. I like the first picture displayed in this post as the mud has been used to make patterns on the skin. This is something that interests me and something that I may develop.
